Swamp Rabbit Trail Coming to Simpsonville

Please see breaking news below regarding Simpsonville SC development. This will be great for our downtown community and property value of downtown real estate. At one time the trail was purposed to go in on the land directly in front of my 402 S Main St listing, I hope that plan is still in the works.  It would be amazing to walk out the front door of 402, walk across the street and be on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, that would just be another added bonus to this unique historic house!  Hopefully I'll see you on the trail soon!

SIMPSONVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -
The City of Simpsonville announced that it was selected to receive technical and planning assistance from the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA) to extend the Swamp Rabbit Trail into the city.
The city said Simpsonville was one of ten communities chosen by the program. The assistance from the RTCA Program will help with the development of the extension of Swamp Rabbit Trail in Simpsonville, the city said.
The National Parks Service will meet with the partners of the project to create a work plan and project timeline, the city said.
"Partnering with the National Parks Service is a tremendous opportunity for the Simpsonville community," said Director of Planning and Economic Development Jason Knudsen. "Tapping into the Swamp Rabbit Trail is a priority of the City's vision for community and economic growth. The expertise and resources provided by the RTCA Program will be the catalyst to bringing this project to life."

Curb Appeal Makeover

The landscaping was getting a little drab looking, but nothing a few bales of pine straw couldn't fix. LOOKING GOOD for the open house this weekend! See you there, Sunday (10-15-17) 2-4pm.

Antique Hanging Lights

These cool antique light fixtures are located in the bathrooms, dinning room, and one compliments (a 1920's pan chandelier) the majestic staircase to the second floor.   Too cool!

Everyone Loves Stained Glass!

Another favorite (but really, what isn't a favorite in this house!), Mantis Homes incorporated antique stained glass\beveled glass windows into the design of the renovation.  How do they think of this stuff? Amazing!

Custom vanities and sinks, oh my.......

These are one of my favorite parts of the restoration.  The bathroom vanities in the downstairs master and powder room are a turn of the century dresser and armoire with vessel sinks added to create the vanity.  The upstairs master has a hand painted Mexican sink (with back-splash to match) and a small vessel sink added to the make up vanity for the future Mrs of the house.  These are the small details that set this historic house apart from the rest.

Yes, 8 fireplaces

402 S Main St has 8, yes, 8 fireplaces.  In 1908 heat was provided by the coal burning fireplaces.  Mantis Homes exposed the historic brick on the fireplaces to create an awesome focal point in each room.  Where you see the reclaimed mantels they are another piece of local Simpsonville history, they are old ceiling beams saved from the old Simpsonville Cotton Mill.  The cotton mill put the town on the map back in the early 1900's.
